ON THE STYLE OF THE FORMER AND LATER SHU-CI VERSES IN THE FIVE DYNASTIES

In the Five-Dynasties, poets of the Former and Later Shu had written lots of Ci Verses. They imitated Wen Tingyun. Their asethetic ideals were reaching unanimity. So Hua Jian Groups -the first school of literature in the history of Chinese Ci Verses had appeared. At the same time, the ' Hua Jian Model' which stood for the style of the Former and Later Shu-Ci Verses had formed. It had far-reaching influence on the later ages. From then on, the graceful and restrained style of the Ci Verses was established, and then became the main stream of the Ci-world. The poets of the Former and Later Shu had explored and attempted all kinds of subjects and styles. They had opened an inkling of varieties of artistic styles in the Ci-world.
