Abstract

The second instar larvae and eggs of root-knot nematode,Meloidogyne incognita were treated with various concentrations of fermented extraction solution of Paenibacillus spp.TX-4 under in vitro conditions, the results showed that the fermented solution of TX-4 had significant inhibitory effect on the egg hatching and caused substantial death of the 2nd instar larvae, and its inhibitory rate to egg hatching and mortality of larvae increased when the treatment time prolonged and the concentration of the extraction solution rose. After soaking the eggs of Meloidogyne incognita in high concentration(10 times dilution) of the extraction solution for 2 days, the inhibitory rate of TX-4 to egg hatching reached 70.4%.Application of various concentrations of extraction solution or bacterial suspension of TX-4 to pot soil infested with 1000 heads 2nd instar larvae of M.incognita could significantly reduce the root-knot index and nematode populations in tomato.
