Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of tetrandrine(Tet) on the proliferation of rat hepatic stellate cells stimulated by lipopolysaccharide(LPS) and the expression of type Ⅰcollagen and leptin, and to investigate the effect of tetrandrine against hepatic fibrosis. Methods Rat hepatic stellate cells were stimulated by LPS and cultured with Tet,the cultured hepatic stellate cells were divided into four groups.Proliferation of rat hepatic stellate cells was detected by MTT.Expression levels of collagen I and leptin were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results LPS significantly promoted proliferation of hepatic stellate cells. The proliferation of hepatic stellate cells and the expression of collagen I and leptin could be inhibited by Tet.Conclusion Tet have the effect against hepatic fibrosis by inhibiting the proliferation of hepatic stellate cells and the externalization of leptin.
