Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the surgical outcome of carotid artery stenosis. Methods:According to the level and degree of the stenosis, different procedures were performed on 82 patients who suffered from the extracranial carotid stenosis, including 65 carotid endarterectomy and 10 endovascular stenting. Results:All the procedures were successful. The incidence of postoperative complications were low, especially in the group of carotid endarterectomy. Conclusion:Carotid endarterectomy is still the main surgical method in the treatment of carotid stenosis.Endovascular stenting could be applicated in the patients with carotid stenosis that can not be treated by conventional operation.
