Abstract
Based on the basic principles and characteristics of static synchronous compensator(STATCOM)and static var compensation(SVC),two sets of schemes on reactive power compensation of electric power network in renewal project of 4 200 kW AC-AC variable frequency synchronous motor are proposed for steel enterprises.TCR+FC Static type dynamic reactive power compensation device is adopted in SVC design, while the passive FC hybrid dynamic reactive power compensation equipment for ±9 Mvar STATCOM and 9 Mvar are adopted in STATCOM design. The difference of the two schemes is compared on the aspects of response speed, possibility of harmonic resonance, robustness of control, power consumption, land area and price etc.
