Correlation of serum chemerin and metabolic syndrome in adolescents with simple obesity

Objective To explore the correlation of serum chemerin and metabolic syndrome in adolescents with simple obesity.Methods Serum chemerin was detected by ELISA in obese adolescents(group A,64 cases) and simple obese adults(group B,33 cases).Group A was subdivited to group A1(with type 2 diabetes,31 cases) and A2(without type 2 diabetes,33 cases).The results were compared to those of group C(healthy adolescents,10 cases) and group D(healthy adults,10 cases).The body mass index(BMI),waist circumference(WC),hip circumference,fasting insulin(FIns),fasting blood glucose(FBG),blood lipids,blood pressure,insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR) were analyzed as well.Results Serum chemerin was higher in group A than that in group C(P0.05),which was lower in group A than that in group B(P0.05).Serum chemerin level was positively correlated to BMI,WHR and triglyceride(TG),but negatively correlated to high density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C).Conclusion The level of serum chemerin is closely related to metabolic disorder syndrome in adolescents with obesity.
