Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of lamivudine for patients with chronic severe-degree hepatitis B.Methods 197 patients with chronic severe-degree hepatitis B were randomly divided into a conventional supporting treatment control group and a lamivudine treatment group. In the latter,102 patients were given lamivudine orally at a dose of 100mg every day besides the support care which was also given to the control group. Results After therapy for 8 weeks, total bilirubin and alanine aminotransferase levels of lamivudine group was lower than that in control group(P0.01),the serum HBV DNA levels were decreased more rapidly in the lamivudine treatment group(P0.01),meanwhile,PTA increased less obviously in cntrol group(P0.01).There was a significant difference between the two groups in regards to the complication incidence of gastrointestinal bleeding, spontaneous bacterial peritonitis, hepatorenal syndrome and hepatic coma.Furthermore, the mortality and the rate of severe hepatitis incidence in lamivudine group was lower than that of control group. Conclusion Lamivudine treatment can partially prevent chronic severe hepatitis occurrence in patients with chronic severe-degree hepatitis B,increase the survival rate and decrease the rate of complication.
