Survey on AIDS Related Knowledge and Behaviors among Female Sex Workers in Entertainment Places in Qingcheng District of Qingyuan City

[Objective] To understand the AIDS knowledge levels and condoms use status among female sex workers in entertainment places in Qingcheng District of Qingyuan City.[Methods]A total of 381 female sex workers were selected randomly. A unified questionnaire was used for anonymous investigation.[Results]The awareness rate of core issue about AIDS related knowledge among investigated objects was 66.67%,the awareness rate of people received intervention was relatively high(χ2=88.7498,P0.01);the proportion of condoms use in sex workers for commercial sexual activity was 80.79%,that for sexual activity with regular partners and casual partners was 41.15% and 38.58% respectively.[Conclusion]The awareness of AIDS related knowledge among the female sex workers in Qingcheng District is low,and the high risk activity still exists. Propaganda on prevention and treatment knowledge about HIV/AIDS should be emphasized in this population as well as behavioral intervention.
