Abstract
Objective:To investigate the incidence and its risk factors of post-stroke depression (PSD) in cerebral stroke patients at acute stage.Methods:127 stroke patients consecutive admitted to hospital within 72 h onset were divided into PSD group and non-PSD group according to the scores of 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating scale (HAMD) in the 14 d after admission. The relationship between PSD and clinical factors including sex, marital status, age, education, stroke type, lesionlocation, hypertension, diabetes, coronaryarterydisease, smoking, drinking,BMI,family history of stroke, score of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS),Barthel Index (BI),and score of mini mental statue examination (MMSE) were analyzed. Results:The PSD incidence in this group was 36.2%(46 cases). In PSD group, man were easier to hypertension, the infarct volume and scores of BI on admission were significantly higher,BI and score of MMSE on admission were significantly lower than non-PSD group (P0.05 or 0.01).Conclusion:The incidence of PSD in patients with cerebal stroke at acute stage is high. The cerebral infarction, hypertension and BI on admission are the independent risk factors of PSD.
