Abstract
GPRS(General Packet Radio Service)is a wireless packet switching technique based on GSM system. It provides point to point wireless link using IP protocol in wide area and possesses the advantages of high rate, always on-line etc.Taking the power SCADA(Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) system as the object, the paper elaborates the feasibility of automatic date collection and RTU real-time monitoring data transmission by the GPRS correspondence network as well as the security function of electrical power system in the practical application environment. Finally,a practical GPRS model based on wireless monitor system is proposed and we analyses its advantages and shortcomings in the power system, and presents its application prospect.
