Abstract
Xylitol can be produced from the corn cob through acid hydrolysis, neutralization, evaporation, discoloring, ion exchanging, concentrating, crystallization and reproduction from mother solution. The influence of acid hydrolysis condition on the acquiring rate of xylitol has been investigated. The optimum parameters of manufacturing process have been obtained as follows-the hydrolysis pressure 0.05 MPa,temperature 120 ℃,vitriol concentration 1.5%,duration 4 h and the acquiring rate is 62.2%.
