Effect of pravastatin and atorvastatin on serum C-reactive protein in patients with unstable angina

Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the effect of pravastatin and atorvastatin on serum C-reactive protein in patients with unstable angina.Methods:One hundred and six patients were randomly divided into tow groups: pravastatin group(53 cases) and atorvastatin group(53 cases).All patients received routine therapy;the atorvastatin group was administered with additional atorvastatin (10 mg/d)for 8 week, pravastatin group was administered with additional pravastatin (10 mg/d)for 8 weeks.Then serum C-reactive protein and blood lipid were measured just before and after therapy.Results:Serum C-reactive protein and Lipid levels were significantly reduced in pravastatin group and atorvastatin group after therapy(P0.05);the blood lipid levels were significantly reduced in atorvastation group compared with pravastatin group(P0.05).Conclusion:Pravastatin and atorvastatin can decrease serum C-reactive protein and lipid level in patients with unstable angina;lipid level significantly decrease in atorvastatin group compared with pravastatin group;Thier effect of anti-inflammatory didn't depend on decline of lipid level.
