Research of application for MAX7219 in LED display circuit

Abstract

LED display unit occupies more pins of microcontroller in traditional design,moreover,writing program is more complex while adopting dynamic scan mode,In order to solving such problems,The author introduces MAX7219,a special drive chip for LED display,which communicates with microcontroller by serial mode and just occupies 3 pins of microcontroller,at the same time,MAX7219 integrates dynamic scan and display control unit,supports flexible display by modifying internal parameter.The author designs an application circuit for driving 8 digits LED by MAX7219 and provides program code.As a result,MAX7219 is an excellent display driver chip for LED and it is possible that simplifies circuit remarkably,improves integration level,enhances reliability by using this chip.
