Abstract
The 64 unsaturated compacted soil specimens from laterite in Nanchang were experimented according to direct shear test method. The influence of water content and dry density of the unsaturated laterite on shear strength is researched. The results shows that the influential relations of the water content or the dry density on the shear strength and the values of c,φ are not linearity.Under the same dry density, the shear strength decreases with the water content increase.Under the same water content, the value of c increases with the dry density increase and the relation between φ and the dry density is complex.
