Abstract

Objective: To observe the changes of lipoprotein metabolism in postmenopausal women and the effects of HRT on it.Methods: There were 453 women including 140 premenopausal women,135 perimenopausal women and 178 postmenopausal women, whose serum hormone(E2,P,FSH,LH) and lipoprotein(TC,TG,HDL-C,LDL-C) were measured.Among them,58 postmenopausal women were being hormone replacement therapy.Six months later, serum lipoprotein were remeasured. Results: ① The serum levels of E2 in postmenopausal women decreased significantly as compared with those in premenopausal and perimenopausal women(P0.01).② The serum levels of FSH and LH in postmenopausal and perimenopausal women increased significantly as compared with those in premenopausal women(P0.01).And those in postmenopausal women increased more significantly than those in perimenopausal women(P0.01).③ The serum levels of TC?TG?LDL-C in postmenopausal women increased significantly and whose serum levels of HDL-C decreased significantly as compared with those in premenopausal women(P0.01).④ There was a negative significant correlation of the serum levels of E2 with the serum levels of TC,LDL-C,LDL-C/HDL-C and TC/HDL-C.in postmenopausal women.(P0.05) ⑤ After HRT six month, the serum levels of LDL-C decreased significantly and the serum levels of HDL-C increased significantly(P0.05).Conclusion: The abnormal serum levels of lipoprotein in postmenopausal women were relative to the decreased serum levels of estrogen, and HRT prevented cardiovascular disease in postmenopausal women.
