Abstract
Objective To explore the optimum treatment for angina pectoris with isosorbide dinitrate. Methods Eighty four patients with angina pectoris were randomly divided into groups A, B, C and D, with isosorbide dinitrate 20 mg orally for each patient in each group, once, twice, three times and four times a day, respectively. A comparison of the improvement was made for each group before the treatment and one week as well as two weeks after treatment. Results The improvement was significant in each group after treatment for one week compared with before in terms of the dosage and S-T segment depression (F=8.68-375.71,q=4.58-33.09 ,P0.05), the dosage of groups B,C and D showed remarkable difference compared with group A (F=218.78,q=27.67-30.75,P0.05). Two weeks after treatment, the improvement was obvious as compared with after one-week treatment in terms of dosage and S-T segment depression in groups C and D (q=5.50-25.67 ,P0.05). Conclusion A dosage of 20 mg isosorbide dinitrate, twice a day, proves to be an optimum long-term medication for angina in coronary heart disease.
