Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effect of the early endovascular embolization of ruptured intracranial aneurysms with Guglielmi Detachable Coils (GDC). Methods Thirty-three cases with ruptured intracranial aneurysms treated by GDC embolization were retrospectively analyzed. The aneurysm located in anterior communicating artery in 7 cases, posterior communicating artery in 10, internal carotid artery in 5, middle cerebral artery in 6, basilar artery in 2 and posterior inferior cerebellar artery in 3. Six patients were Hunt-Hess grade Ⅰ, 12 were grade Ⅱ, 7 were grade Ⅲ, 6 were grade Ⅳ, and 2 were grade Ⅴ. Results Total occlusion was achieved in 20 cases, 90-99% in 11, and less than 90% in 2. Patients were followed up from 3 to 12 months, with good curative effect in 23, moderate in 7, and poor in 3. Conclusion Early endovascular embolization with GDC for the treatment of cerebral aneurysm is a safe and effective therapeutic method.
