Study on the control of clonorchiasis sinensis in Shandong Province,China

Objective To survey the epidemic scopes,epidemic rules and the degrees of damage of clonorchiasis,to search for the methods of diagnosis and control of clonorchiasis,and to take the effective control measures and reduce the infection rate of population as well as its damage in order to obtain the aims of blocking the transmission and controlling prevalence.Methods The data of the investigation,research and control of clonorchiasis in Shandong Province during the past forty years were collected and analyzed.Results The clonorchiasis in Shandong Province was found in 1962,and prevailed among 107 counties in 132 of whole province were confirmed by investigation.The infection rates of population and villages were 1.51%,and 1%-30%,respectively,the infection rate of some schools was more than 40%,85.7% of the infected people were children below fifteen years old.Through forty years' control,the population infection rate dropped to 0.3%,the infection rate of 91.6% epidemic villages dropped to less than 1%.The infected people were not found in 40% of former epidemic counties according to the analysis of counties acted as an unit.The infection rate of the main counties dropped to 0.04%.Conclusion The clonorchiasis in Shandong Province has been controlled successfully,combination of examination and treatment of infectious source and healthy education is the main control measure.
