Abstract
Objective in order to find the relationship between protein RB and laryngeal squamous cell carcinomas. Methods Using ABC immunochemical technique, the expression of protein RB was studied in 43 laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) patients. Results The expression of protein RB was present in 19 of 43(44.2%) cases. There was a significant association of expression of protein RB with lymph node metastasses (P 0.05). It did not correlate with the site of the tumour, T stage, histological grade, 5 year survial (P0.05). Conclusion The result indicated the mutation or lack of RB gene was not the only reason in the tumorigenesis of LSCC, and protein RB might cooperate with cyclin D 1, P16, CDK4 to play a role in the process of tumorigenesis.
