Abstract

Varicella-zoster virus(VZV) is one of alpha-herpes viruses.Primary infection causes varicella(chickenpox),after which virus becomes latent.VZV reactivates and causes herpes zoster(shingles) and other neurological diseases.Acyclovir is the preferred current anti-VZV agent.In recent years,new molecules in development show improved activity against VZV.
