Abstract
The suspension graft copolymerization between styrene and corn starch was investigated by using Ce~(4+)-S_2O~(2-)_8 as initiator. The easy method of the graft copolymerization was found. The FTIR results testify the graft copolymers.Effects on the conversion degree of monomer, the grafting percentage and the grafting efficiency were discussed, including the method of pretreating starch, the reacting temperature, the initiator concentration, and the ratio of starch/styrene.The results show that the maximum grafting percentage was 47.4%,and the grafting efficiency was 78.0%.
