Abstract
A reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatographic method was developed for the determination of hydroxyquinoline in cosmetics. The determination process was carried out on a Kromasil C18 column, using a mixture composed of methanol and 0.01 mol/L aqueous solution of sodium decyl sulfonate with pH adjusted to 2.25 by phosphoric acid at a volume ratio of 62:38 as mobile phase for isocratic elution. The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min and the column temperature was 25 ℃.Detection was carried out at 240 nm.The limit of detection is 2.254 μg/g.The linear plot ranges between 1.0 and 100.0 μg/mL.Average spiked recoveries are 95.5%~100.1% with the relative standard deviations of 0.07%~2.18%.
