Abstract
In order to study neuroprotective effect of metallothionein-1(MT-1) in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion(IR) injury,we used bilateral carotid arteries occlusion model of rats and analysised the changes of superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) and malondialdehyde(MDA) in the brain tissue at 6 h?1 d?3 d and 5 d after reperfusion following 10min forebrain ischemia. The results showed in predeterminate time, the activity of SOD and GSH-Px in rat brain tissues in old group was significantly lower than that in young group (P0.05).The content of MDA was significantly higher than that in young group (P0.05),and MT-1 could increase the activity of SOD and GSH-Px,halt lipid peroxidative reactions in brain (P0.01).It has been tested that MT-1 can protect brain tissue from IR injury.
