Clinical effects of domestic cefepime and imported cefepime on treatment of respiratory tract infections:a meta-analysis

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess the clinical effect of domestic cefepime versus imported cefepime in the treatment of respiratory tract infections.METHODS Searching CNKI database from 1993 to 2008,the published domestic literature focusing on randomized controlled trials(RCT) of domestic cefepime and imported cefepime in the treatment of respiratory tract infections were collected.The selected literature was assessed based on the demand of a meta-analysis by RevMan 4.2.RESULTS Five RCTs were identified.The cure rate,total effective rate,and bacterial eradication rate were 62.70%,96.48%,95.77% and 58.72%,90.64%,95.21%,respectively.The pooled OR were 1.20(95%CI 0.81～1.78,P=0.37)、2.75(95%CI 1.21～6.26,P=0.02) and 1.14(95%CI 0.46～2.78,P=0.78).The cure rate and bacterial eradication rate were similar in the two groups,but the two groups produced significance in total effective rate.CONCLUSION There are similar clinical results of domestic cefepime versus imported cefepime in the treatment of respiratory tract infections,Even the domestic cefepime gives a higher effective rate.
