A Review of the Studies on the Post of Xiaowei Managing Qiang Minority in the Han Dynasties

Xiaowei Managing Qiang minority is a position for the northwest frontier areas established to administrate the Qiang ethnic group affairs in the Han Dynasties. It plays a significant role not only in the relationship between the Han and Qiang,but also in the administration of the central regime to the Qiang ethnic group. With the hope of forming a deeper understanding of this position,this paper reviews its time of establishment,its appellation,and its relationship with Duwei of vassal Jincheng,which have been controversial in previous research.
