Epidemiological Characteristics Analysis of Syphilis in Wuhan from 2009 to 2013

Objectives To acquaint the epidemic trend and characteristics of syphilis in Wuhan city and provide scientific basis for syphilis prevention and control in the future.Methods Analyzed epidemic situation data of syphilis among category B infectious disease from 2009 to 2013in Wuhan city.Results 14 275 cases of syphilis have been reported from 2009 to 2013in Wuhan city,annual incidence is 31.56/100 000,the highest incidence is in 2010(36.66/100 000),incidence of syphilis have entered in a slow downtrend and fall down on average by 6.19% year by year.Latent syphilis is in majority by staging which account for 39.49%,and shows an increasing trend;Sex ratio is 1.01∶1,the incidence between men and women is not obvious different;20to 49 years old are in majority by age(66.88%);unemployed and unknown was in majority by professional.Conclusions Epidemic situation of syphilis in Wuhan has been slowdown the rise since 2010 and enters the stage of slow decline.But the mount of latent syphilis is rising year by year.The direction of syphilis prevention and control need to be adjusted in the future,normalize the diagnosis and treatment service of syphilis in medical establishments,strengthen early detection,early diagnosis and early treatment of syphilis patients.
