Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of superselectively hepatic artery embolization treatment with pingyangmycin lipiodol emulsion for patients with liver cavernous hemangioma.Twenty-three patients with hepatic cavernous hemangioma underwent the superselectively hepatic artery embolization with pingyangmycin lipiodol emulsion. The changes of clinical symptoms, tumour diameters and complications were observed before the treatment and 6 and 12 months after the treatment.CT scans showed that the supplication of blood disappeared, and tumor diameter reduced in all the patients 6 and 12 months after the treatment. The lipiodol deposited well in the tumoral lesions of the most patients. The mean tumor diameter was(8.1±2.2)cm before the treatment and(5.4±1.3)cm 6 months after the treatment,and(3.4±1.2)cm 12 months after the treatment. The clinical symptoms alleviated or disappeared in all the patients. No severe complications such as gallbladder injury, bile stuct strick and liver function failure developed during and after the therapy. In conclusion, the superselectively hepatic artery embolization treatment with pingyangmycin lipiodol emulsion is an effectve and safe method for patients with hepatic cavernous hemangioma.
