Abstract

Objective:To evaluate safety and efficacy of superselectively hepatic artery embolization treatment with Pingyangmycin lipiodol emulsion for patients with liver cavernous hemangioma. Methods:23 patients with hepatic cavernous hemangioma underwent superselectively hepatic artery embolization with Pingyangmycin lipiodol emulsion. The changes of clinic symptoms, tumour diameters, and complications were observed before treatment and at 6 months and,at 12 months after treatment. Results:CT scans showed that the supplication of blood disappeared, and tumor diameter reduced in all patients at 6 months and 12 months after treatment. The lipiodol deposited well in the tumoral lesions of most patients. The mean tumor diameter was 8.01±2.2 cm before intervention,5.4±1.3 cm at 6 months after treatment, and 3.4±1.2 cm at 12 months after treatment. The clinic symptoms alleviate or disappear in all patients. No severe complications such as gallbladder injury, bile stuct strick, and liver function failure developed during and after therapy. Conclusion:Superselectively hepatic artery embolization treatment with Pingyangmycin lipiodol emulsion is an effectve and safe method for patients with hepatic cavernous hemangioma.
