Abstract

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of multislice spiral computed tomography(MSCT) coronary angiography using a new 64-slice scanner. Methods Fifty-eight consecutive patients undergoing elective invasive coronary angiography were studied. All these patients were examined with 64-slice MSCT.The CT images were reconstructed by means of retrospective electrocardiographic gating in left main stem, left anterior descending branch, left circumflex branch, right coronary artery and its side branches. Results All 58 cases showed diagnostic image quality.Of 870 segments,757(87.0%) could be evaluated and 638 of 757(84.3%) could be assessed quantitatively by both MSCT and quantitative coronary angiography.101 segments were diagnosed as the stenosis of coronary arteries by conventional angiography.Meanwhile 104 segments were found to have stenosis by means of MSCT investigation. The total sensitivity of MSCT was 86.1% and specificity was 96.8 %.Conclusion 64-slice MSCT coronary angiography can be used as a non-invasive screening method for diagnosis of stenosis of coronary artery.
