Peking University's former president Cai yuanpei advocated the teaching idea of tolerant attitude and free thought,which has been regarded as a part of Peking University's spirit till now and also the pride of Peking University.The former staffs in Peking University were always in favor of pursuing freedom and democracy.The spirit of a university lies in the tradition of being independent in management and free in teaching so as to maintain its own thoughts and spirit uncontrolled by others,which is highly evaluated in this article.This spirit is clad completely with a hue of idealism and is high beyond the earthly society,which can help the staff in Beijing realize real academic freedom and return to the former status of independence.
