Abstract

Objective To expolore the feasibility of single therapy for root canal in the treatment of chronic periapical periodontitis, pulp necrosis, pulpitis, vital teeth and cracked teeth without pariapical symptom and percussion pain. Methods 157 teeth suffering from chronic periapical periodontitis, pulpitis, vital teeth and cracked teeth were treated with single therapy for root canal.Follow-up was conducted for one week and one year respectively. The effect of the therapy was evaluated through clinical and X ray examination. Results 138 cases(157 teeth) were treated with the single therapy for root canal. The successful rate was 94.9%.Conclusion The single therapy for root canal is feasible in the treatment of chronic periapical periodonitis, pulp necrosis, pulpitis, vital teeth and cracked teeth without periapical symptom and percussion pain if correct indications are identified and aseptic manipulation is followed.
