Abstract

Objective To study the correlation of homocysteine( Hcy) and C-reactive protein( CRP) with the severity of coronary heart disease. Methods One hundred and twenty-three patients underwent coronary angiography were divided into normal control group,CHD group,single-vessel disease group, double vessel disease group and multivessel disease group, the Hcy and CRP levels were compared among the five groups. Results The level of Hcy in patients with coronary heart disease was higher than that in normal control group( P 0. 05),and the serum Hcy level increased gradually in single-vessel disease, double vessel disease group, multivessel disease group( P 0. 05); CRP level in disease groups was higher than that in normal control group( P 0. 05),with the increase in the number of coronary lesions, serum CRP levels gradually increased( P 0. 05). Conclusion There may be correlation of serum Hcy and CRP levels with the degree of coronary heart disease, they can be used as indicators for monitoring the severity of coronary heart disease.
