Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of tween-80 on the degranulation and histamine release of RBL-2H3 cells.METHODS The RBL-2H3 cells were cultured with different sources of tween-80 for 60 minutes.The histamine released by RBL-2H3 cells were determined by fluorometric method quantificationally.The percentage of histamine release was calculated from these data.RESULTS After RBL-2H3 cells being cultured with tween-80 for 60 minutes,the percentages of histamine release were significantly increased in contrast with control group.The level of histamine was increased in accord with the increase of tween-80 concentration in some extent.CONCLUSION Tween-80 may induce degranulation of RBL-2H3 mast cells and there is remarkable dose-effect relationship.This fact supports the mechanism that tween-80 may cause allergy.
