Abstract
Objective To test the susceptibility of 40% chlorpyrifos EC,5% bifenthrin SC,10% permethrin EC and 10% imidacloprid SC on the workers of Reticulitermes chinensis Snyder.Methods The toxic and repellent effects of four preventive termiticides on the workers of Reticulitermes chinensis Snyder were evaluated by filter paper chemical-dipping method,the toxic soil method and toxic soil pillar method in laboratory.Results Among the four chemicals tested,40% chlorpyrifos EC and 5% bifenthrin SC had the best toxic and repellent effects on the workers of Reticulitermes chinensis Snyder,followed by 10% permethrin EC and 10% imidacloprid SC.The workers of Reticulitermes chinensis Snyder exposed to soil treated in high concentrations of liquids soil treatment,or chlorpyrifos,bifenthrin,permethrin and imidacloprid died within 4 days.The workers of Reticulitermes chinensis Snyder could not pass through 5cm length soil treated,or chlorpyrifos,bifenthrin,permethrin and imidacloprid.Conclusion All these four chemicals tested can be used for the prevention termites.However,considering the control effect and environmental safety,using of 5% bifenthrin SC in termite control of houses and buildings is the best selection for users.
