Analysis on Metonymy and Synecdoche in News English

Abstract
Metonymy and synecdoche are often used in News English.In this way,the news characteristic is more distinct,the news language is more vivid and expressive,and the readers are more apt to produce interests and imagination.Through categorizing and analyzing the phenomenon of these two common and specific figures of speech,the thesis tries to make clear their quality of imagination and expression in order to give a hand to deep understanding and proper translation of them.
