Abstract

Objective To investigate the minimal erythema does(MED)of normal skin to UV in Guangzhou city, and observe its relationship to sex. Methods 330 healthy subjects were exposed to Solar Simulator(GS2004),and the MED was measured. Results The average MED value of all subjects was(1176.1±322.90) mJ/cm2.In male and female group, the average MED value were(1132.8±339.38) mJ/cm2 and(1212.2±304.76)mJ/cm2 respectively, and there was no significant difference between male and female(P =0.12).However,the male MED value in skin type Ⅱ was significantly lower than those in female(P=0.02),and the male MED value in subjects aged over 30 was significantly lower than those in female(P0.05).Conclusion The MED value of the subjects in Guangzhou was quite different from other cities according to the previous reports and related to gender while considering the skin types and age.
