Abstract

Modern Chinese philosophy includes the traditional Chinese philosophy and the study of Western philosophy and Marxist philosophy by Chinese scholars, which is an interdisciplinary “macro-philosophy”. This “macro-philosophy” is a concept in contrast to “pure philosophy”. Historically speaking, Western philosophy has its ups and downs in terms of its crisis and development, which reveals the ups and downs of “pure philosophy” and “macro-philosophy”. The so-called philosophical crisis is the crisis of “pure philosophy” and the gaining influence of “macro-philosophy”. After the crisis, “pure philosophy” will enjoy its development while “macro-philosophy” will lose its influence. While in a crisis, modern Chinese philosophy should consciously develop “macro-philosophy”, encourage the dialogue between the traditional Chinese philosophy, Western philosophy and Marxist philosophy and promote the comparative study of Western philosophy and Eastern philosophy, which will help Chinese philosophy enjoy a prestigious position in the world.
