Abstract

Objective To explore self-assembly peptides characteristics to apoptosis following spinal cord injury. Methods Rat model of spinal cord injury was established. Apoptosis in the injured area was examined by using terminal deoxynucleotidyl-mediated nick-end labeling(TUNEL). Results The TUNEL positive cells were detected 2 hours post injury,the number of TUNEL-positive stain reached a maximum 8 hours after injury,and there were fewer TUNEL-positive cells detected in self-assembling peptide group(SAP group). Conclusions Self-assembly peptides do benefit to depress cell apoptosis in the spinal cord after injury.
