Abstract
: Objective To study the role of apoptosis in spinal cord injury.Methods Forty rats with spinal cord injury were made with Allen weight drop and spinal cord tissues were removd from 1 h to 4w after injury.The number and position of apoptosis was observed with in situ end labeling. Results Apoptotic cells appeared from 12 h to 4w,and arrived to peak at 4d after injury in both gray and white matter. Conclusion Apoptosis occurs in both neurons and glial cells after spinal cord injury in rats,especially in the latter one.
