Abstract

OBJECTIVE To investigate the relationship between bacteremia and central venous catheterization and take different infection prevention measures according to different sources of bacteria so as to reduce infection incidence.METHODS A total of 162 patients with positive blood culture and 3 patients with positive catheter culture and negative blood culture were statistically analyzed on the implementation of central venous catheterization, the result of catheter culture and so on.RESULTS There were only 20 patients(25.97%) who received test of catheter culture in the 77 patients with central venous catheter.Among the 20 patients,17 patients were positive with catheter culture.Totally 21 strains of bacteria were isolated by catheter culture.Among the 17 positive patients,4 patients were diagnosed as catheter-related bloodstream infections.CONCLUSION Catheterrelated bloodstream infection is underemphasized during clinical diagnosis and treatment practice, and there is lack of awareness of timely catheter cultures and blood culture on fever patients with central venous catheterization, and the standard processes of catheter intubation and cultivation are failed to foster and perform.
