Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of matrix metalloproteinase-11(MMP-11) in human gastric cancer. Methods The MMP-11 m RNA expression was examined quantitatively by using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction on a cohort of human gastric cancer tissues(n=40) and corresponding adjacent tissues(n=40).Results The results of fluorescent quantitative-PCR showed that the expression level of MMP-11 mRNA in gastric cancer tissues were significantly higher than that of the adjacent tissues(P0.05)).However the expression of MMP-11 mRNA had no correlation with the age and gender of patients, differentiation and size of gastric cancer. Conclusion MMP-11 mRNA is over-expressed in gastric cancer tissues and significantly correlates with clinical prognosis, and may have an important role in gastric cancer development and disease progression.
