Abstract

Objective To explore the changes of C-reactive protein and its clinical significance in early stage of neonatal bacterial infections. Methods The serum levels of C-reactive protein(CRP) in 50 neonates with early bacterial infections were detected by turbidimetry and compared with those of 30 neonates with physiological jaundice before and after treatment. Results The serum level of CRP in bacterial infection group was significantly higher than that of control group before treatment(P0.01).However,the serum level of CRP decreased to normal range after treatment. Conclusion The above-mentioned results indicated that serum level of CRP may be served as an early indicator in early stage of neonatal bacterial infections, and it can provide guide for clinical medication.
