Abstract

Based on the cavity-expansion,a formula of penetration resistance is obtained.Take a conical nose projectile as a example,a non-dimensional formula is proposed to predict penetration depth into concrete target subjected to a normal impact of a non-deformable projectile according to Newton's second law.The proposed formula depends on two dimensionless numbers and the data calculated from the formula are in good agreement with that of our experiments.
