The Clinic analysis of endovascular stenting for carotid stenosis

Objective Discuss the effect and security of endovascular stent placement for the treatment of carotid stenosis.Methods The stent of carotid artery was used to dealing with symptomatic carotid stenosis.26 patients were tested by NASCET with more than 50% narrowing.Around the stage of surgery,the patients were treated with anti-platelet and checked wtih ultrasound.The patients were followed-up for 6 to 12 months.Results The surgery of 26 patients was successful.The narrow after surgery was less than 20%.There were 1 patient with epilepsy in surgery,7 patients with slowness of the heart rate after surgery and two patients with high-perfusion syndrome.All harmful symptoms were disappeared after treatments.There were no cerebral infarction and transient ischemic attack.In the period of follow-up,there was no patient with the narrow of carotid artery that tested by ultrasound of carotid artery.Conclusion The endovascular stenting is effective and safe for treatment of carotid stenosis.
