The Expression of IGF-I and Apoptosis in Placenta of Pregnancy Induced Hypertension

Objective:To study the change of insulin-like growth factor(IGF-I)and the relation with apoptosis in genesis of pregnacy induced hypertension(PIH).Methods:52 women with PIH(including 16 mild PIH cases,19 moderate PIH and 17 severe PIH cases)and 30 normal pregnant women(NTP) were studied.Apoptosis rate of placenta was measured by flow cytometry (FCM) and the expression of IGF-1 in placental villi was measured by immunohistochemisty.Result:①Apoptosis rate of placenta in PIH group were significantly higher than that in normal pregnancy group(P0.01).In PIH group,apoptosis rate in moderate PIH and severe PIH cases were significantly higher than that in mild PIH cases (P0.01)and that in the severe PIH cases was significantly higher than that in moderate PIH cases (P0.01).②IGF-I in placental syncytiotrophoblast,cytotrophoblast and decidual cells in PIH group were significantly higher than that in normal pregnancy group(P0.01).In PIH group,differences was showed among them(P0.001).③In PIH group there is a liner correlation between apoptosis rate and the expression of IGF-I in placenta.Conclusions:The placental dysfunction maybe closely related to the apoptosis.With increasing cell apoptosis,IGF-I in placental villi may involve in the process of PIH.IGF-I can induce the expression of apoptosis.
