Abstract

Polyethylene wax micro-emulsion was prepared from polyethylene wax 6 100 by high temperature and high-pressure method in hermetic conditions.Influences of HLB number and dosage of emulsifier,emulsification time,temperature,pH,stirring speed and cooling conditions on the properties of polyethylene wax emulsion were investigated.Furthermore,the morphology,particle size and distribution of the emulsion were analyzed by field emission-transmission electron microscope(FE-TEM) and laser dynamic light emission device(DLS).The results showed that the optimum emulsification condition was: HLB number was 14.8,the dosage of compound emulsifier was 6.4%,and the wax was emulsified at 130 ℃ for 40 min with 60 r/min of stirring speed under pH 8.The polyethylene wax ultrafine micro-emulsion with more than 40% of solid content,50 nm of average particle size,good stability and dispersibility could be obtained under the optimum condition.The softness and fullness of the fabric treated with this kind of ultrafine micro-emulsion was obviously improved.Frictional resistance of the fabric surface could be reduced,and the tailoring properties of the fabric could also be greatly improved.
