Abstract
Objective To investigate the iodine status of women during pregnancy and lactation and their in-fants.Methods Detection of urine iodine, milk iodi ne,the size and function of thyroid g lands in 105lactating women and 30of their infants.Result The median of urine iodine and milk io dine of delivery women was 489.74μg /L and 372.05μg /L respective-ly.The thyroid size was 8.74±2.86ml by ultrasonography. The TSH level in neonatals was 4.24±2.96mU /L.The ur ine level in pregnant women who took some iodine -containing food was higher than that in women who took non -iodine -containing food. The median of urine iodine of in fants was 293.96μg /L.Those infants can regulate their iodine level to certain extent when their mother' s urine iodine fluctuated. Conclusion The iodine level in pregnant and lactating women can be maintained to nor-mal level by taking qualified iodine salt.It is better for those women to t ake some iodine -containing food additionally. The iodine in infants comes from their mother an d it can be regulated to some extent by themselves. But excessively low or h igh iodine level may interfere with their developmen t.It is suggested that the urine level during pregnancy and lactation be maintained at 200~1000μg /L.
