Abstract
Distinguishing from the ordinary roadbed, the high embankment has the characteristics of much settlement, long-time settling, high demand for carrying capacity of foundation and so on. How to reduce the settlement of embankment effectively and to dispel the endangerment of settlement caused is a great problem in the domain of highway. Based on a second class highway example, the settlement and distortion of high embankment are discussed through finite element analysis. Some valuable references for predicting settlement and distortion are provided and the stabilization of embankment is ensured.
