Abstract

[Purpose] To investigate incidence of liver cancer from 2008 to 2010 in Yongkang city, Zhejiang province. [Methods] The data of medical record of new patients with liver cancer were collected from Yongkang Medical Security Office and Yongkang First People’s Hospital. The data covered a population of 1 703 031 person-year( male 868 777 person-year,female 834 254 person-year). Incidence,age-specific incidence,age-standardized incidence and proportion were analyzed. Chinese population sensus in 1982 and Segi’s population were used for age-standardized incidence. [Results] The total newly diagnosed cancer cases from 2008 to 2010 were 4 194,and the new liver cancer cases were 527 with a proportion of 12.57%.The crude incidence of liver cancer in Yongkang city was 30.94/10 5 (male 48.11/10 5 ,female 13.07/10 5 ),age-standardized incidence by Chinese standard population(ASR China) was 20.70/10 5 (male 32.70/10 5 ,female 8.38/10 5 ). The age-specific incidence increased with age increased, and 60~ years old group reached the highest level with incidence of 117.91/10 5 .The incidence of liver cancer from 2008 to 2010 in Yongkang city was higher than those in Chinese all areas and urban area, but was lower than that in China rural area. [Conclusion] Liver cancer is one of the most important public health issues in Yongkang. The key populations for prevention and control programs of liver cancer should be those who were older than 40-year-old, particularly on men.
