Historical Interactions Between the Concept of Development and the Development Model since the Founding of New China

Three distinctive and yet mutually related concepts of development have evolved since the founding of New China: the concept of development oriented towards economic growth from1949 to 1978, the concept oriented towards economic development from 1979 to 1994, and the concept oriented towards economic and social progress from 1995 up to now. The new concept of development put forward at the Third Plenary Session of the Sixteenth Central Committee of the CPC is more scientific as it was formulated in the course of historical interactions between concepts of development and development modes, a product of scientific considerations of the various models of economic development and a result of dialectical sublation of successive developmental concepts put forward by the central leaderships in China.
